Milton Friedman: A Man Of Liberty

You know, I just don't honor Milton Friedman enough on this blog given my personal preference and penchant for liberty talk.

Someone once asked me what I thought of Naomi Klein. "Not a fan," I replied. No. I'm just not a fan. I ask, when you see this, who possesses a greater mind? Friedman or Klein?

Actually, I create an intellectual injustice by pitting Mr. Friedman with Klein.

This kind of clip has never convinced me of anything. It's too easy to pick segments of what people have said or written and present them to suit one's own views on any subject.
Friedman cites China as a glowing example of his theories and part of the picture vindicates him. However there is a flip side, I recommend you read "the China Price" by Alexandra Harney. Most revealing of the good and the bad in Freidman's teachings.

  2. That's a good point about the segments.

Look, of course, at its worse, Friedman's theories can go haywire. But in the end, he asks us to choose, decision for ourselves or by the government?

I don't believe, by the way, liberty can exist in a healthy way with intrusive governance. Only limited government respecting it will work.

"Actually, I create an intellectual injustice by pitting Mr. Friedman with Klein."

No kidding. Friedman was one of the greatest defenders of individual rights and freedom in all of human history. Klein is a Marxist twit.
