The door bell rang earlier this evening. It was our neighbour. He and his wife have had the dishonor of watching their child of 13 years, Gabriele, battle cancer for two years. Today, after two weeks in intensive care, fighting tears his father announced his son lost his battle with the dreaded disease.
Powerfully sad.
No child deserves to die. It's a cliche I know. But it's true. Fact of life sure, still grotesque nonetheless. No parent should have to bury their child. God ordains they must.
