Calgary Flames Jump The Flu Vaccine Line

"They say" it's impossible to jump the queue under Canada's public health system. Of course, we the ordinary citizens of Canada who are forced into a public system know this to be false. It happens. And if they don't move to the front of the line, they, like politicians, split for the States for service. Saying as much in the U.S. regarding health care reform is considered to be "fear-mongering" but up here it's how things roll.

So it's not surprising this story has surfaced and I wouldn't be shocked if it's abused moving forward. That's how it is in life. Where there's a will, people find loopholes.

Furthermore, it's remarkable how divided health care professionals continue to be about the H1N1 shot. We keep getting mixed signals about the whole thing. It's also a joke the way it's been handled. Public officials are very good at designing schedules and posting them on websites but when it comes to the actual execution of it, they're weak if not clueless. 50 million vaccines were ordered for a population of 33 million and there are shortages? And what happens to the balance of the vaccines, that is the 17 million, who makes cash off of that?

Personally, I think, where necessary, people should get the shot. I don't subscribe to the conspiracy theories surrounding it. By all accounts, it's the same recipe as the regular flu shot with a few added extras. However, I ain't waiting six, seven or eight hours for it.

By public officials, I mean bureaucrats. Health care providers are efficient and professional...once you get to them.

It's equally absurd that pediatricians and general practioners aren't getting any vaccines.

Where it's sensible and practical you can be sure the government will go against it.
