Again, thanks to SE for this. Great piece at Tom Mullen's blog about how using the military as means to preserve freedoms has not rendered the desire results. In fact, one can assert it's pointless and does nothing for freedom - the Great Wars notwithstanding.
I know many people have a problem with Pat Buchanan but he's been steadfast in his convictions that the Iraq war or maintaining an empire is not in the best interest of the United States.
