Cops don't have to obey the "law". I see them speeding all the time (when they are NOT on an emergency call), tailgating other cars, driving recklessly (and yes, cops have been the cause of many traffic accidents, in some cases killing innocent people). Not to mention the numerous times cops are found to be driving drunk (off duty, usually).
