I never quite understood people who say "I don't follow politics." Or "why do you waste your time with politics? It's all a scam."
Perhaps the latter has some validity up to a point, but you can't ignore politics outright. We ALL get affected by decisions made by politicians. You can go on and on with your life and discover that some law actually runs contrary to your beliefs.
You can't be aloof or flippant lest politics makes decisions on your behalf without your voice.
