Calling Out The Logical Fallacies Of Quebec Linguistic Discrimination

"We are the majority and we must protect our language" the OLF and nationalists will say.

Yes, this is valid.

However, NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF OTHER LANGUAGES AND CULTURES.

This is TYRANNY. SUPPRESSION.

Understand?

That they are the majority is no longer acceptable if the majority feels it can institute blatant laws like Bill 14 that infringe on CIVIL LIBERTIES.

All concepts alien to Quebec's political theory discourse. There is no eloquent heritage to fall back on here. There is no question on issues of freedom the United States of America (as bad as things are these days are) have Canada beat hands down. Ottawa is silent on what's going on here. It must stand up for Quebec is still a member of this country. It is NOT independent and must not be allowed to belittle Canada's already fragile commitment to civil liberties.

Bill 14 takes things too far.

State coercion is NOT acceptable where INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS are concerned

"We are a minority on a continent surrounded by English..."

So. Quebec wants it both ways. Just like they want Federal transfer payments if they break off and access to Canadian passports and currency.

Talk about taking justification of prejudicial linguistic ideals to another level.

Tyranny of the majority is bad enough. Now Quebec has added a new concept: Tyranny of the minority.

This linguistic "fight' is bad for Quebec.

If you follow the PQ or the NDP (because they support all this bull shit)  it's a one-way ticket to nowhere.
