Trump: America's Claudius

Hanson drawing classical history analogy to contemporary American politics. Here, he makes the case of how Roman elites held Claudius in utter contempt (much like how the established classes do with Trump) but that recent scholarship has revealed the criticism was unfair as he proved to be a very good and adept emperor.

Since the left loves to (often inaccurately) compare America to Rome so much (hello Greg 'we are Rome!' Popovich!), they can take some pointers from Hanson. I can't think of any pundit on the left that goes to such lengths.

Read and enjoy but I do want to pull out one sentence in the article and apply it to Canada for a second:

"In the end, Claudius was likely murdered by dynastic rivals and relatives who thought that a young, glib, handsome, intellectual, and artistic Nero would be a pleasant relief from the awkwardness, bluntness, and weirdness of Claudius."

Sounds like what we did with Trudeau and Harper doesn't it?

Trudeau is very much acting like Nero.

So out of whack he is with Canadian sensibilities (who are in many ways more conservative than Americans), Scheer's sensible posture without much fanfare seems so much more responsible and needed at the moment.

You know it's bad when you look at this and say 'yes!'

Except on the Paris Accords. The Conservatives need to knock it off with that but I'm willing to digest that if it means they steer the economy back on track, lay off the SJW madness, and fix the anthem.
